"Birdpia" is the combination of the words 'bird' and 'utopia'.
For people living or working in urban regions, please share the space you
have with all organisms. In order to be comfortable for both people and
living organisms, we suggest the effective use and improvement of their
surrounding property to create 'utopia'.
What is the purpose of "birdpia" ?
The Earth is more difficult to live for organisms because we are expanding
production activity. We can realize the importance of nature through birdpia
activities and can understand the meaning of living together. It is particularly
important for children to understand how to coexist with living organisms.
Our aim is to turn birdpia into an idea that spreads from one person to
another creating safe places and green corridors for all organisms.
Following page presents birds that can be found in birdpia.

For planning your "birdpia"
Planning birdpia is not difficult, and the special methods or technique
is not necessary, but there are some important points for the birds and
the environment where organisms live. Birdpia can be anywhere; in gardens,
balconies, schoolyards, the area surrounding your work place and so on.
Planning birdpia is basically the following.
(1)Plants
In urban places, the space which living organism can use is decreasing. To compensate for this, it is effective to plant fruit and/or flower bearing plants which will also be welcoming to all living organisms. Plants should be native or local species , be careful with invasive species and uncategorized species when choosing plants for your ecosystem.
(2)Making bird baths
Water is very important for wild birds to drink and to bathe in throughtout
the year. Bird bath is can also be a good habitat for other living organisms.
A pond is ideal but you can make use of household plates and other similar
objects. When the water is dirty, please wash the baths and change the
water. In summer, the bath water easily becomes dirty, and mosquitoes breed,
so please change water frequently.

(3)How to make homes for wildlife
If you plant various plants, you can make habitats for a variety of living
organisms. It is important to have a variety of geographic and botanical
features as part of your garden. For example pile fallen leaves, dead branches,
and use the unevenness of the ground to create home for various living
organisms. In winter, to supplement the scarcity of fruit, it is effective
to place bird feeders. If there are not enough nesting places, you can
place nest boxes.
